About 4chan
4chan is an anonymous English-language imageboard launched on October 1, 2003, by Christopher "moot" Poole. Modeled after the Japanese Futaba Channel (2chan), 4chan hosts a wide array of boards covering topics such as video games, anime, technology, politics, literature, and more. Users can post comments and share images without the need for registration, fostering an environment focused on ideas rather than individuals. The site has been instrumental in the creation and popularization of numerous internet memes and has played a significant role in online subcultures and activism. Despite its influence, 4chan has also been a subject of controversy due to the nature of some content hosted on its boards.
